Wilson’s Creek Dam Walk – Kid Friendly Walk Helensburgh
A family friendly 4.8 km loop walk near Helensburgh, South of Sydney. It took us about 2 hours to do this walk with a 15 minute stop at a small beach.
Location: Garawarra State Conservation Area – South of The Royal National Park
Pram Friendly: No
Toilets: No. However there are public toilets at Charles Harper Park, a short drive away.
Parking: On-street only

Starting The Wilson’s Creek Dam Walk
On street parking is at Laurina Ave, Helensburgh. Walk down Fletcher Street and the Fletcher Street Vehicle trail.

Next turn left down the Flat Rock Vehicle trail. You’ll cross over the Wilson’s Creek.

When you reach a T junction – turn right. Walk on until you meet the Wilson’s Creek Dam Track and turn right.
After a couple of minutes, you will see the water, and there is an option to walk down a small track to a small beach for a picnic or short break. Otherewise carry on down the track.

When you reach the dam, there is a great view over the water and tree canopy. Another good opportunity for a rest break to enjoy the scenery.

The path turns left and you’ll walk up the Wilson’s Creek Dam vehicle trail. It’s a fairly steep climb up.
Turn right at The Ridge. At the crossroads, turn right on to Fletcher Street.

Conclusion
Wilson’s Creek Dam walk is a family friendly walk and is fairly gentle, other than a steep uphill climb after the dam. Bring some friends, pack a light picnic and enjoy!
